A blast from the past, a past when all seemed possible. A compliation of street theater and life theater events, manifestos, analyses, stitched together from leaflets, flyers, and detritus from many demonstrations. I was living in DC at the time, a visiting fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies, and director of The American Playground, a rabble-rousing theater group, and part of the Washington Free Community. It was here I began the practice of “infiltrative theater”, staging events that didn’t look like theater, but as instructive oddities of life. Our scenarios are described. The book is currently being used as source material for college courses on “the Sixties”. Out of print, of course, but used copies still turn up on-line.
